Tutoring Services - How Does it Work?

Overview

I CAN Christian Learning Academy provides tutoring services based on a Christian curriculum that is designed to help your children succeed. Our tutoring services cover reading, writing and mathematics for ages 4-12 (Pre-K to 6th grade). Students are given an initial assessment to determine their needs in the above subject areas and then placed on a specific tutoring plan to help them exceed in those areas.

Service Fee

$25.00 per 1-hour session (per person)

Note: Students may attend (1) one-hour session per week
or if additional help is need a student can attend up to (2)
one-hour sessions per week on (2) different days of the week.

Additional Information


 
  • Tutoring will be held on Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.; Friday from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.;
        Saturday from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • Pre-k and kindergarten students will be taught phonics and how to read and write, as well as, basic math skills
        such as counting, number recognition, addition and subtraction facts, shapes, time, money etc.
  • Older students who are struggling in reading will be taught skills and strategies that will help them come up
        to grade level in reading. We will focus on comprehension, vocabulary, phonics skills, basis reading strategies
        and fluency. In writing we will focus on grammar, punctuation, penmanship and the writing process. In Math, we
        will focus on the area where the child is having trouble.
  • The students will also receive homework after each session.
  • There will be a reward system in place for each student such as gift certificates.
  • Our overall GOAL is to help children be successful in school. 

  • Measuring Progress

     
  • As stated before the students will be given a pre-test to determine where they are and their needs.
  • They will be tested each week to determine their progress. A progress report will be used and sent home or
        given once a month.
  • A post-test will be given when he or she has reached their goal. This will be given to make sure that the parents
        received their desired results.
